Nintendo games designer Eiji Aonuma has overseen several of the Legend of Zelda games, and he explains that the most recent's MotionPlus use is very natural. Good to hear!

"We're taking advantage of MotionPlus. It's become very natural – the movement of your arms is precisely reflected in the gameplay. Thanks to the technological advancements, we hope the gameplay can be more accessible to people."

Rage of the Gladiator Trailer Wii - Master Yee:

Zangeki no Reginleiv Supports Wii MotionPlus

Zangeki no Reginleiv will support the Wii MotionPlus, we learn today. First revealed at a Nintendo conference in 2008, the game sees a group of young deities square up against a race of giants in an experience that has been dubbed 'surprisingly violent' by those in the know.

With over 300 weapons on offer, and 4-player online co-op, Zangeki no Reginleiv could be one to look out for. It hits Japan in early 2010, but there's no word on a US or European release just yet.

Shaun White Snowboarding World Stage Review

A portion of the Game Informer review of Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage:

"You might as well ride a peanut-butter covered skateboard down an elephant’s back for how impractical and testy Shaun’s controls become on the balance board.

Shaun may have walked away with the gold, but his games still can’t qualify."

Rage of the Gladiator Wii - No Multiplayer Mode

A portion of a Gamervision interview with Scott Merriam of Ghostfire Games...

GV: Are there plans for a sequel or multiplayer expansion?

SM: No. Firstly, we don’t believe in having additional DLC, we want the player to get the full experience with one purchase, rather than string them along for continuing purchases. Secondly our goal has always been to deliver an amazing single player game and make it as fun and interesting as possible, rather than to sacrifice any of that game-play to accommodate a single and mutliplayer experience.

Shaun White Snowboarding World Stage Review

A portion of The Guardian review of Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage:

"As sporting celebrity tie-ins go, Shaun White's Snowboarding: World Stage may not be in the Tony Hawk category, but it's decent throwaway fun, particularly in multiplayer, and may be the best chance to experience snow this Christmas."

Shaun White Snowboarding World Stage Review

A portion of the CNET review of Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage:

"...for people new to the series, or anyone itching to take to the slopes again, this is a really fun take on the sport with excellent controls."

Shaun White Snowboarding World Stage Review

A portion of the GameSpot review of Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage:

"World Stage, like its predecessor, is a well-made representation of the winter sport that is easy to pick up, and it's satisfying to work your way to the top of the rankings. However, since there aren't any huge differences separating it from last year's release, anyone taking control of Shaun White once again will have a sense of deja vu. But for people new to the series, or anyone itching to take to the slopes again, this is a really fun take on the sport with excellent controls."

James Cameron's Avatar Wii Preview

A portion of the Cubed3 preview of James Cameron's Avatar: The Game for Wii:

"Thankfully, it seems Ubisoft has ensured that the Wii version of Avatar: The Game will stand apart from its Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 counterparts by playing to the system's strengths in terms of core gameplay and tight motion control. Visually, however, the game still impresses with a considerable amount of care evident. Certainly one to keep a close eye on!"

A portion of the IGN
review of Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage:

"Shaun White was good fun on Wii last year and it's still a nice ride a year later. Not a lot has changed, though, and you may be a little underwhelmed if you've already been down the mountain. I also want to stress that this is a kids' game, although it's one of the better kids' games around. If you're looking for a simple arcade racer, Shaun White is your man."

Shaun White Snowboarding World Stage Interview

Shaun White recently sat down with the LA Times for a chat about his career and Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage. The extreme sportsman explained that he halted Ubisoft from including too much cliched snowboarding lingo, DUDE, and when asked what he wanted players to get out of the game, he replied:

"The goal of the game is to get someone who never goes snowboarding to get the feel for what it's actually like to ride. If you play the game, you get the same point of view I get when I ride. When you add the balance board, it definitely enhances that feeling because you're able to lean and turn. I also think it's rad to be able to go in the game and do things I can't do in real life.

Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage is released in just a few days time.

Zelda Wii MotionPlus: Swordfighting and Improved Aiming

We know that the newest Zelda on Wii will use MotionPlus, and now we learn a little more about how MotionPlus will be implemented:

Speaking during a recent Q&A session, Nintendo main man, Shigeru Miyamoto said: "We're using MotionPlus to make you feel much more like you're actually fighting while holding a sword in your hand."

He also claimed that MotionPlus would help the targeting system. "In the previous game, you aimed at things by pointing at the screen, but this time we'll use MotionPlus to create a much more convenient targeting system and a more pleasurable playing experience."

What We Want from Wii MotionPlus #1 - WarioWare

Nearly three years after its release on Wii, WarioWare: Smooth Moves is, arguably still the best demonstration of a developer using the Wii Remote in a varied and imaginative way. Through a series of mock-serious lessons, players were taught to hold, swing, and gesture with the motion controller in a variety of positions in order to succeed in Wario's hundreds of microgaming challenges.

With MotionPlus now on the scene, it seems about time for Mario's menacing counterpart to return and provide us with another collection of the kind madcap mini-games that only his series could.

We want more nose pickin', ass slappin', phone answerin' action; more drink servin', damsel savin', goomba stompin' microgaming - and we want it sooner rather than later.
